time is a funny thing.
oh the things it does to someone.
I am not talking about 10 years, not even 7-8. just 4 years. 4 years will do.
the wonders it does to people. the changes that skim all over their face.
I met him again after 4 years. boy was I surprised. he was too. haha I mean who wouldn't be?
not once were we in contact after the last message. a birthday wish over the years but even I have gotten lazy.
Frankly, it was shocking, but nice to see him. To know that he has been doing well, he kind of knows what he wants. but that's none of my business anymore. It took me a long time to forget but I am glad that I managed to put everything past me now. I sincerely wished him well. We didn't exchange phone numbers.
The first thing I noticed about him was the roundness of his face. His once 'chiseled' and sharp tan face has become fairer and... significantly fleshier and rounder... haha that was the very first remark I made of him.
He said that I still looked the same. I chose to take that as a compliment. the topics we touched on in that short 10-15min exchange was general. He still had the same humor, the same tone and expressiveness. Kind of miss that animation in my life. But it could be meeting just once in a blue moon that made that a novelty.
School, Army, Family, Career. Basically almost everything under the sun. Except that topic. I didn't dare broach that topic, neither did he. it was as if there exist an unspoken tension. the light batter was the theme, just like old times. the feelings, emotions faded and all that's left is the warm aftershave. the light scent of remembrance that when blows eastward might go to the point of no return but if blown westwards, the friendship might still linger.
It was really nice meeting you again after so long. Great to see you doing fine and well even though you were not as fit as you were haha that's kind of sad but I wish that you'll be healthy and well. Have a blessed life, till we meet again, God willing.
You may just be a passer-by in my life, but thank you for leaving a footprint in the sand. :)
=do something right=
