Circuit Breaker Thoughts

WOW!

I really did not expect that my first post of 2020 would be during the circuit breaker period. Or rather on the last few days of the first circuit breaker before the extension came.

Refraining from using the acronym C-B and insist on typing out the word in full. haha

During this time, I have been occupying myself with many zoom meetings (on average about 1 a day), reading the Bible (yay!), doing Bible study (double yay! and under the request of my mentees), watching shows (no surprise there) and just basically Instagram.

In a span of a month, I have actually spoken to 3 different financial consultants.
One whom I have known since 5 years back, one from church and one whom I reconnected via Insta :)
Meeting with different people might be confusing but they give different insights and I ask them generally different questions. For example, with one of them, we touched on the topic of investments and making your money work for you. Even though I do not have the money to do investments now, but it was good to gain knowledge of the different types of investment and how the market works. With another, it was really reviewing my expenses and just doing the usual yearly check. Lastly, the other one was very comprehensive as she made me ponder on almost the exact amount of money that I would require if I would ever have been diagnosed with a critical illness or worst, permanent disability. They were questions that I might have answered previously, but now that I have been through a couple rounds of meetings with financial consultants, I know what they were looking out for and I thought realistically about it. Quite excited to see what is the outcome fo her analysis, but that would be in 2 weeks time.

Through the circuit breaker, I am also introduced to the world of online food delivery. I'm not talking about G or FP but standalone stores that cater to your senses. Be it sweet, savoury, or you just want some refreshing tea. Many stores are actually using the circuit breaker as an opportunity to bring their food to your doorsteps and some of them even include a flat delivery fee or their prices are inclusive of delivery fee. Really blessed with the monetary power to gift people with some yoghurt, macarons, cookies etc. Though sadly.... I've not had the privilege to be on the receiving end... but its better to give than to receive right? haha though I would indeed love to receive some sweet snacks like ice cream or yoghurt too hahah but its okay! I'm blessed just the same :) Managed to write letters to my 419 kiddos as well, pretty nostalgic and I love the cute Monsters Inc. and Toy Story letter set that I bought specially for them :)

Of course me being me, I watch to introduce this show which I watched early on, when the circuit breaker was being implemented. So far, I cannot seem to find any shows that can beat this show. It has the elements which I love:
1) Humour
2) Good storyline
3) Detective (period... classic dunnit)
4) Good looking cast (BONUS!)

the show is called 民国奇探.

do give it a watch when you guys have the time (haha who doesn't during this circuit breaker :P)
but watch maybe.. 2 cases per day. binge-watching will not do this show justice. haha spoiler alert: the ending is pretty abrupt and ._.'' though so beware! Other than that, buckle up and get ready for a ride :)

That's all for my updates. Probably just enjoying what time I have while we are all cooped up at home. Our zone leader's vision for us is to redeem the time. The scary part is when you emerge from this Covid situation the same as how you entered it. No paradigm shift, no renew relationships, no nothing. by then, you would have wasted whatever time God gave when He pressed the 'pause' button on SG. I am also learning how to be at home with my parents, it has not been easy to deal with this generational gap and it requires even more communication. Thankful for all the prayers that my friends have given me. I know that only through prayer that things will change. I won't say that I dislike the circuit breaker, it is indeed necessary, for the security of our country. I just dislike the inconvenience that comes with it. Where we can no longer have our own little escapades after work, or just head to our favourite burger joint for a hearty meal, or simply sitting down at some random space without having to wear a mask and MAIN POINT do it together with a friend (I need social interaction). I learn to appreciate the times that we shared, the freedom we once owned. But I know that humans are adaptable creatures and with the onset of technology, we will find and ways and means to connect, we will not be beaten by a circuit breaker, but emerge with a stronger current, after the flow is back to normal.

With that, stay safe everyone! God bless!

=do something right=
