So it is really the end of Term 2 and tmr marks the start of the holidays (for the students). I'll still be heading back on Tuesday and maybe Wednesday for some meeting and to spring clean the drawers of my office. Clear some books as well so that they will not collect dust during the period where I am gone.
May has been quite all right. Was already winding down nearer the end of it. Term 3 is going to be buy, with EOYs coming and I need to consolidate the AA requires.
While I was reflecting on the term, I think one of the main change that I made this term was to sleep early (or rather get at least 7 hours of sleep on average). Which I think I am currently achieving, though I need to admit that I pushed it a bit nearing the end of the term. We always start well before dwindling, but no excuses. Need to pick it up again. Sleeping at 10.30pm is obviously the best case scenario, since I wake up at 5.30am on weekdays. Sometimes life and dramas get in the way and the boundary will be pushed to 11/11.15pm max. Timing usually fluctuates between 10.30-10.45pm on good days and 10.55-11.15pm on my more 'rebellious' days. But having this goal is definitely a good choice.
School also embarked on this Forward Bound 37 programme where we need to clock in 37km in 37days. Elite finishers can clock in 74km in 37 days. 3 activities one can choose: run (walking also can), swim, cycle. Each activity will give a different % of distance. I thought it was a good initiative. I found myself choosing to walk much much more. For example, if time permits, I no longer alight at the mrt station nearest to my house. Instead, I will alight one stop before and walk the entire way back. It is actually a good way to just free your mind, pray, or sometimes, just enjoy nature. If I happen to go to JE to get something, I will also choose to walk home from JE.
Most memorable was definitely the walk from Clementi all the way to Vivo city, via Henderson Wave :) I think it is nice to walk with kakis at a leisure pace. Needless to say, I managed to clock in more than 74km. Initially, my plan was just walk 2 km a day. 2 x 37 = 74km. Consistency is key. At the same time, one days where I clock in more, it gives me more leeway to rest and recover the next day cause I managed to clock 2 days worth of distance in 1 day. Having everyone doing it together and also occasionally monitoring each other's progress makes it fun.
If you ask me if I will continue this lifestyle after the programme. Honestly... eh no. haha regards to this, I guess I will need to be extrinsically motivated.
There is however, one thing where I would want to challenge myself - that is to continue the rest early portion. I know that during the holidays, my bed time will start to get later and later or 'earlier and earlier' till the next day. Just because I am able to sleep in till late the next day. But I would want to continue to build this habit of sleeping early and rising earlier than my holiday timetable. This would ultimately be good for my overall wellness and body!
This post suddenly turned into some healthy living post haha but since its my first time participating in this FB37, I thought it would be a good memory to note down. Next year, it should be FB38. Hopefully I still have the enthusiasm and stamina for it!
