Tomb Raiders Decentralized Service

Thoughts on the decentralised service on Saturday.

I was my FIRST TIME planning something like this for DC. Looking back, the previous DCs were the usual hosting at someone's house and just having games + a message.

But doing an escape room. I honestly think its something that only Den would be able to think of and I am honoured that she wanted to partner my cell to carry it out. It was definitely an interesting combo due to the age gaps in our members. But I thought it was a good opportunity. After watching a couple of mystery variety programs, it was also a great time to put my brain cells to work and see if we can conceptualize something. :)

The plan took a few weeks, and Den gave the initial idea of Tomb Raiders. Finding the Tomb, then from the tomb, getting the right treasure and escaping. Tying in the idea of HE IS RISEN - focusing on the empty tomb and that's what we are celebrating, Jesus' resurrection!

I could not have asked for a better team. Like what Nic said, we really had the right people at the right place. Of course there were some tough moments - time pressure. Den lost her voice then I started coughing. We targeted many friends coming, but they started pulling out on by one due to various reasons. But I thank God that we pulled through. Kept praying and praying, for protection, for the rooms, for everyone.

Also have to thank Weilin, for talking to the various pastors from the other ministries to let us use the room. A lot of coordination work behind the scenes. Really thankful that my cell got to experience something different and all who came rededicated! Praise the Lord! It really made me see the power of a community and God's timing has always been spot on.

Though I started this post with the idea of it being more technical, with the entire matching of the frame to the visualizer and having the different clues scattered around, it turned out to become a gratitude post. Which I am okay with it. I think seeing the look of surprise on Elkan's face when he saw that the animals we drew during our sushi making session being used, also hearing that he did well in engaging the crowd and leading his ice breakers, these are growth and moments that I would like to note down and celebrate. Not forgetting Dave, for coming though he wasn't feel his best and Jiantao for stepping him and trying to lead his team. :) These will be fond memories and encouragement fuel for them.

To God be the Glory!

= do something right =
